Make the filling

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line an 8-inch (20cm) sq. cake pan with parchment paper.

  • Place the dates in a small saucepan, add 1 cup water and convey to simmer over medium warmth. Simmer till the dates have softened, about 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the warmth and use a picket spoon to mash right into a clean paste.
